Moreover, this government is committed wholeheartedly to a neo-liberal agenda of signing on for any and every condition an IMF loan will come with? The new PM has called his government a kamikaze government that will become very unpopular very quickly. Energy subsidies will be gone. There will be mass layoffs of government workers and there will be economic contraction a la Greece.
Is that what the people of Ukraine want?

The US supported Kosovo separating from Serbia under similar circumstances (the majority of people in Crimea are Russian and/or Pro-Russian) so the US has no business getting all sanctimonious about Crimea.
The only question now is how far will Russia go into Ukraine? The Kremlin`s view is that Kiev`s new government is self-appointed by a "coup" that illegally deposed an elected president (yes, he was a crook and thief however legally elected). They do have a point - it would be in Ukraine`s best interest for their "leaders" now to call for a new election immediately - so they can say they have a legitimate government. They could even put the crook on the ballot to appease the Russians if need be. Perhaps Kerry (who has been totally useless so far) could suggest it.

Diplomacy is great, but the threat of force always has to be on the table. The current administration will not put the use of force on the table.

А вот в статье сказано, что хотя Обаму и прессовали на более жёсткие меры, он ограничился декларациями. Бабок нет на войну ни у Киева,ни к Европы, ни у США. Там ещё с Афганом не рассчитались.
